Winter Florals.

Standard

Florals are not always about summer. Depending on the fabric, you can wear florals in any weather.

Here I am wearing a formal long crepe floral kurta with a shimmery motif.I have paired it with formal silk trousers.

My Joie De Vivre.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Final Trio.”

https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/final-trio/

For our final trio prompt of the year, write about any topic you wish, but make sure your post features a bookcase, something cracked, and a song you love.

Warm sunlight streamed through the window,

Lighting up my bookcase,

I looked on as my books came to life,

A smile came across my face.

I looked back as something cracked,

It was the sound of steps on my wooden floor,

And there he was in all his glory,

Heathcliff had just entered from the door.

As my favorite  love song played in the background,

I felt like Cathy from Wuthering Heights,

It was a dream come true for me,

It was the ultimate delight.

It was a moment suspended in time,

All my fantasies had come true,

It was love all around,

Life had changed, out of the blue.

Then, I was woken from my sleep,

By my husband of 26 years,

He is no Heathcliff,

But he is my joie de vivre.

An excuse to smile

An excuse to forget

An excuse to live life

An excuse not to fret.

An excuse to be happy

An excuse to dream

An excuse to love

An excuse to hold up your esteem.

Always find excuses

For the above wonderful things

After all you only live once

Happily accept what nature brings.

kurta collar

The small floral buttons on the kurta are delightful.

It has been a task always to add variety to my winter wear.

Here I am wearing a long silk kurta, with paisley print. The brown color gives a nice change from black and greys. On top , i am wearing a long brown sweater with collars. The richness of silk adds sophistication. There is not much need of accessories, if the material is nice.

The kurta has collars which I have buttoned up.

A nice comfortable wear for work.

Enjoy!

Birthday.

Standard

It was 49 years back,

In a small  hospital room ,

A tiny baby girl was born,

For her father she was a boon.

As she was the youngest of three sisters,

The relatives had wished for a boy,

They were not happy,

She was unwanted, they cried.

But her father loved her,

And always held her close to his heart,

Never let her alone in the cold,

From her he could not part.

She grew up loving her father,

He was her friend, philosopher, guide,

She became a doctor as he wanted,

In her he took pride.

Today it is that girl’s birthday,

And she remembers him, as she writes this,

Dad, you made me what I am,

But you, I will always miss.

OOTD -Winter Checks

Standard

Wearing checks in winter is a must for me. It adds nice variety to the daily monotony of wearing black.

Here I am wearing a grey black check collared dress with tights and a wool blend sweater in steel grey.

I have a black pashmina stole knotted around my neck. This is winter capsule wardrobe essential.

Share Your World – 2014 Week 49

Share Your World – 2014 Week 49

I find this damn cathartic. So here goes…

What is your preferred hot drink: coffee, tea, water, hot chocolate, or other?

It is tea, in a huge mug, nicely brewed and at least – 5-6 times a day.

What was your favorite toy as a child  . . .  and now?

I had a doll by the name of Betsy. She was British and had beautiful golden curls. My dad bought her from a flea market, and she became my world. Still miss her sometimes.

Now , it is my smartphone and my laptop.

Candy factories of the entire world have become one and will now be making only one kind of candy. Which kind, if you were calling the shots?

Cadbury dairy Milk Giant Bar

It has to plain milk chocolate from Cadbury’s. It just melts in the mouth.

Would you want $100,000 right now or $120,000 in a year (tax Free)?

Of course right now. Who knows what happens after an year. There is many a slip between the cup and the lip.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week I was traveling, and I am grateful to God that I had such a great time.

For the next week, I am waiting for my winter vacations. I have so much fun lined up.
