thinking of poetry
my whole life’s melodrama
flashes across my mind
thinking of poetry
my whole life’s melodrama
flashes across my mind
wars, viruses, climate change
winds of change have started to blow
don’t know where we are headed
ah! how I wish
I could forego the need for
appreciation from others
let’s live this life
it may end anytime soon
don’t want to miss a thing
when the going gets tough
my heart cries out
for you mom and dad
for
even though I am old enough
but
nothing compares
to a mother’s lap
and a father’s reassurance
peeping through
the stained window
seeing her grandchildren play
she
pined
for a slice of youth
in the attic
my grandfather’s diary
holding family secrets
summer sun go away
let the clouds bring rain
waiting for the rain dance
reading fairy tales
enchanted woods, whispering trees
reliving childhood
as the heavens drip
remembering the days of our youth
when we shared an umbrella
