Ageless Beauty? Nah!

Writing a fashion blog entails a lot of effort and passion. You want to share your views on fashion and learn more from fellow fashion bloggers. As I go through so many fashion blogs one thing stands out. Most bloggers put up #OOTD regularly featuring themselves as models. Its so nice. I would love to do it too. But I have a problem. In fact two problems. No three maybe. Leave it. There are too many ”ifs and buts.”

First and foremost. I am 49 years old . Can I model my outfits or am I too old for that ?

Second equally important. I wear mainly Indian or fusion wear . Are there any takers for that?

Third. I am married and have been for 26 years. I have no boyfriend who could click my pictures with dedication and affection. Of course photographers wont have a similar passion. So I lose out on that.

Fourth. My son is a great photographer. You must have seen the photographs that I put up on my sites .They are all shot by him. But ,he doesn’t like to shoot people. Oh, are girlfriends not people. Every second his display picture on WatsApp is changed. He is there with ”people”. So may be I am a mom and so do not conform to his idea of an actual; person.

Fifth. Even if I overcome all the above, what should I do about the people around me who are ready to judge me? I am not the right age or in the right profession to model. What if my students come across my blog, or my children’s friends see me. Now that they say is going to be a disgrace. Especially when my daughter who is 26 , is about to be married. What will her husband and his family say?

So ,what do I do.Stop writing?

Can you wonderful people out there believe that I have not activated the Facebook option on publicize. THIS I HAVE DONE SO MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY DON’T JUDGE ME.

So what do I do?

To all my fellow women who are aging, you maybe be called a fashionista in your circles but mind it, you cannot model or put up pictures of you in interesting outfits on social media without being judged.

Lets think about a way out of this . Help me too. I am in a dilemma .

To Wear A Rainbow.

What do you think the title of my blog :toweararainbow indicates?

What is the blog about? Colorful clothes, nice makeup , fashionable heels? Yes you are bang on. But it is also about YOU. Wearing a rainbow is like wearing happiness.

This combined with all the trappings of a fashionable wardrobe will make you a true fashionista.
So kudos to the fashionable you.:)

Fashion for kids…WHAT !

Fashion for kids…WHAT !

Does the above picture look innocent?

Do kids really need fashion? With the new breed of celebrity kids mushrooming on the horizon there is a huge trend that advocates fashion for small children. Now it is one thing to make your child aware of the importance of dressing well , but to encourage them to dress like adults iS so frustrating. Here are some suggestions on how to make them effortlessly trendy without imposing fashion on them.

1) Teach them cleanliness and neatness.

Refer to my post…https://toweararainbow.wordpress.com/2014/09/17/all-about-hands-and-feet/

It is worthwhile to inculcate that habit early on in your kids.

2) Good posture.

Time and again I have advocated the role of a good posture in how you look. Stand up straight, shoulders back, chin up and a smile on your face. And that’s it …you are raring to go!

3) Physical activity.

Kids should know the importance of exercise and a good healthy diet. If they have the habit of leading a healthy lifestyle, automatically they shall grow up into beautiful adults.

4) Teach them by example.

How you dress up, how you carry yourself , what is your maintenance routine, all this rubs off on your children. Behave the way you would like them to behave.

5) No make up for kids.

Now that is something all of us should follow. It looks terrible if you let your child wear make up. At least not till they are in their teens.

6) Make them wear the right lingerie at the right time.

This is of utmost importance. Any delay in starting the right bra will lead to physical and emotional problems for your girl. I know it sounds too gross but believe me this is one of the most important milestone in dressing up as an adult. A delay in starting the wearing of a bra, a wrong fit and a lack of communication with your daughter may lead to loss of self confidence later on on life.

7) Teach them to be what they are.

Instill confidence in them and teach them to love themselves. Rest will surely follow. After all it’s not clothes that make the man.

Little girls should not be wearing make-up, big hair, false eyelashes, hair pieces, fake teeth….It is not about the little girls though. This is about the mothers turning their daughters into women while they are little girls.  Don’t let the innocence be lost. They are going to make their fashion choices later on in life , so leave them alone. If you want your little girls to grow up as secure women….let them be little girls first. They should be secure with their little girl natural looks.
Isn’t the au naturel  look better?
So darlings let your little girl enjoy her childhood , help her grow into a confident young woman and let her choose what she wants to look like when she is older.
Fashion….that they will learn.

Fashion decoded.

Is fashion  in the clothes, makeup, accessories ,shoes? I don’t think so. It is the intellect, mindset, experiences, outlook, knowledge of the world and much more. Ultimately how you express yourself to the world matters. Following the trends blindly is not fashion. Create your persona. It should be distinct .Fashion is as unique as the person you are… You can emulate certain people but not copy them. It took me a long time to understand myself and my individuality. I was so unsure . ..of my looks, my clothes, my hair. But when I became comfortable in my skin I was told I am fashionable.Don’t try to be someone else. You are what you are. you have your likes, dislikes, opinions. And that is what should reflect in what you wear.

People who are fashionable and rule the fashion world have slogged to be where they are. They create trends not follow them. We can take a cue from them and create a look that is totally you. Again, fashion should be comfortable, easy and pleasurable.

Dare to be different, bold and individualistic.

Enjoy it, relish it, and make it a way of life.

Go girl, make your own choices.
