Monochrome x Pop of Color

Standard

I love monochrome. But going all out may look a little drab. The best way to spice it up is by way of accessories.

Here I am wearing an all black outfit which I have accessorized with a multicolored stone necklace. It adds enough glamour to shift from a day look to  an image makeover for an evening out.

This is easy fashion!

Go Normcore!

Standard

Love this trend. The basic mantra here is to blend in not stand out, especially because of your clothes. It is a result of fashion oversaturation. This does not mean that you are unfashionable. It means dressing to blend in, and not to stand out because of your clothing. It is detail free, non fussy design. IT SCREAMS ABOUT INGRAINED AUTHORITY AND CLASS.

It is all about wearing comfortable clothes. If your personality has to shine out, it will.

Welcome to this wonderful inspiring trend.

Colored muffler x Black Dress

An all black outfit never fails. To add more drama to an all black outfit, what better than a colored pashmina stole.

stole

I am wearing a black wool coat( from Hong Kong), black midi dress, black skinnies and a green blue pashmina stole.

This look is super chic and super warm.

It is also slimming and a good smart option for women my age….in their 40’S.

A black midi dress and black skinnies are a must for a winter capsule wardrobe.

How to Wear Pants with Dresses.

Standard

Hi there! It is that time of the year again when the chill sets in. Now I am a great lover of a longish silhouette. But in winters you need to keep warm also. So how do I pair my dresses with pants?

This was a look for the youngsters.

For my age here it is…

Pairing dresses with tights is also a smart option. Try and go for shoes in the same color as the pant or you can wear nude shoes too.

The safest option is to wear black pants or leggings with black boots. This gives an impression of length.

Add a scarf for warmth.

The best part of this look is that it hides flab and is super comfy.

I hope to rock this look this winter.

Multicolored black outfit.

Standard

Wearing black is a rule in winters. But ,wearing it with a twist is the key.

Here I am wearing a collared kurta, that is paneled with a multicolored print on one side.

I am wearing this kurta with black palazzos and nude ballerinas. To beat the cold, I am wearing a long black cape in a fine knit.
The back of the kurta is printed, as is the front half. The cuffs on the sleeves are also printed.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Recently Acquired.”

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/recently-acquired/

I started blogging in July this year, and I must confess, I was pretty scared as to how my blog would be perceived by all those wonderful people out there.Still, I kept on blogging. It was a month back, that I actually started getting great responses from you guys. The only thing that stood out a month back was that it pays to be consistent.

Here I am not exactly talking of followers or likes, but more about the amazing interaction I have been having with my fellow bloggers. It is as if a whole new chapter of my life was hidden somewhere, and now it has opened.

Also, not to mention the great learning experiences.

And of course, I have acquired a lot of happiness.

It does pay to be consistent in whatever you do.

Not to mention that I now have more than 2oo followers….yipee….

( I think it does matter after all )

🙂

Happiness acquired.

Blue Is The New Black

Standard

Yess…for me this is true. I am huge fan of this color. I also mix blue with black for an interesting look.

I wear longish outfits, as they are slimming and suit my age.

Here, I am wearing a blue kurta with black palazzos, and a navy blue long fine knit sweater. (sorry for the bad picture quality…working towards it!)

I have accessorized it with a silver necklace with Lapis Lazuli beads, that I got from Jaipur.

Wore this to an evening at a winter carnival .

To take care of the walking, wore nude flats

Lets Talk Fitness

Standard

ytownwellness.com

With winter pretty much here,it is obvious that I am overeating. Now there are a number of weddings that I have to attend. So,all the layering which I talk about will have to go. Though in winters ,it is easy to hide unwanted  bulges under layers, it is difficult when you have to wear an outfit without hiding under the bulky clothes. Also, fitness and fashion go hand in hand.A fit body is always a pleasure to dress up. Here are some basics that I follow as a routine.(Though I have cheated for the past month)

 1) Metabolism

Now some people can get away with whatever they eat, as they have a fast metabolism. As we age, the metabolism slows down, and we tend to burn less calories compared to when we were younger. So, as we age we should accordingly reduce our food consumption and the type of food we eat. No more high calorie foods .

2) Frequent meals

This is a mantra I swear by. Having 5-6 small meals a day rather than 3 heavy meals is a better option . It revs up the metabolism even at rest.

3) Roughage

Gorge on roughage. Fruits, oats, dalia and brown rice are amazing. I for instance have replaced my morning breakfast of bread and eggs, with oats with almonds and seasoning it with elaichi powder. I sweeten it with Splenda. It tastes good. You can try your hand at similar recipes which are nutritious and low cal.

Even for lunch, I have salty dalia or plain roti and sabzi.

It is obvious that sweet and oily food should be avoided. That does not mean that you should totally ban it from your diet. Have it during the day if you must and avoid it after lunch.

4) Early dinner

This is one thing that I really find hard to follow. But this really helps. If you must have something late at night ,have a homemade soup or a fruit.

5) Exercise

Now this is important but 90% of what you are is what you eat. Exercise revs up the metabolism, makes you flexible, makes you feel positive and tones the body up.

It also helps in losing weight to some extent.

For me I am a huge fan of yoga. Though I add a bit of walking into my daily schedule too, but my knees don’t allow much of walking. Choose your favorite form of exercise, and devote at least half an hour to it daily. Make sure that you wear the proper footwear and clothes for whatever activity you plan to do. That helps in making up the mood for exercise . Focus while exercising.Don’t let the mind wander. For some reason this hastens your weight loss.

6) Be consistent.

7) Moderation is the key.

It is important to know your fitness target. Age, body built and  state of health are all important factors to take into account before embarking on the journey to fitness. Don’t set unreasonable goals. e.g. A fifty year old woman cannot have the same physique as a 20 yr old. So be clear about your limitations.

It is important not to overdo your fitness efforts. Don’t wear yourself out.

I am going to diligently follow this from today.

Wish me luck:)

Have a cheat meal once a week to satiate your taste buds.

I will keep posting on my progress from time to time!

Happy fitness!

Long Kurta with Animal Print

Standard

I am a huge fan of traditional wear but I love a slight twist. Today I am wearing a long yellowish beige kurta with an animal print patching on the neckline and on the hemline.

I have paired it with a simple silver hasli and diamond earrings.
To beat the chill I have picked up a black shrug.
Beige  ballet flats complete the look.
The key is not to go OTT and let the animal print stand out.

This is a nice outfit for fall. It is traditional yet has a contemporary touch to it.
