I need to-feel complete
After years of subordination
Marriage does that to you
Women are mostly bossed around
Finding peace is difficult
But learn to be your own boss
Learn to say no to things that are out of bounds
Learn to be complete in yourself
I need to-feel complete
After years of subordination
Marriage does that to you
Women are mostly bossed around
Finding peace is difficult
But learn to be your own boss
Learn to say no to things that are out of bounds
Learn to be complete in yourself
she can hear his heartbeat
as she lies down
next to him
on the marital bed
a heartbeat
that doesn’t
solely beat
for her
marriage
a life long collaboration of convenience
or a perennial love affair

I loved him
I was possessive
I was crazy
For him I lived
He did not care
He ignored me
I pined for his love
He could not see
Then I grew apart
It was not worth the pain
I became a different person
For heartbreak I was not game
And the years flew by
And we became old
And then I saw a change
Unheard of, untold
He became dependent on me
I was all he had
Was love blooming again
It was all good, not bad.
And in the last lap of life
It was nice to have him back
It was definitely worth the wait
After all two children we had.
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Not for Thee.”
Not for Thee
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received that you wouldn’t give to anyone else? Why don’t you think it would apply to others?

A sweet girl twenty
So innocent and naive
Oblivious to the world
But she knew how to behave
Was shown a guy by her parents
They wanted to marry her off
Not once she objected
She knew she was tough
And today she is happy
That she listened to her parent’s advice
For the man was her knight in shining armour
And she was his beloved wife
Not many want to marry young
But my life has been lovely
That advice sure worked for me
But maybe it’s not for thee
