wintry winds

a dog sleeps

in a spot of sun

haiku

winter night

cold on the street

dogs howl

goodbye winter

when the quilt feels too warm

the dreams are drenched in sunlight

goodbye winter, summer beckons

wormhole

lazing in the shadows

of the cedar tree

the cool mountain air

and the sun dappled parasol

a perfect moment in time

and

I wish for a wormhole

to travel back

into time

to a similar moment

with a younger me

snuggling in my mother’s lap

and dreaming

what the future will hold

wintry night

cold wintry night

a small dog on the sidewalk

shivering in the chill

 

 

buying blankets

looking for abandoned animals

waiting to cover them

a warm heart

cold winds

deep dark clear nights

a warm heart for the winter bed

summer

cold winds blowing

I sit huddled in my quilt

waiting for summer

promise to return

warm sun cold winds

the winter bids us goodbye

with a promise to return

Winter solstice

stay with me

for today is the winter solstice

and the day is too short

enduring winter

yearning for the warmth

of a few loving words

I endure winter
